Sarah Grace, founder of Somatic Sanctuary, supports individuals on the path to true, integrated healing. Having over 20 years of experience within the somatic field of trauma resolution, she holds a deep heart presence for coming home to one’s own Embodied Soul Essence. Sarah’s passion lies in creating sacred space for people to gather together to slow down, coregulate, and connect to the inherent resource and essential birthright of Health and Blueprint.

As a Registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist®, Authorized Continuum Movement® Teacher, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, Conscious Birth Doula, and Pre and Perinatal Attachment Facilitator, Sarah brings a synergistic blend of somatic and trauma resolution practices to her work with women, children, and families.

Somatic Sanctuary was founded as a place of refuge and retreat from our fast-paced lives, a space for people to restore their vitality and wholeness.

Somatic Sanctuary is lovingly dedicated in honor of the Chumash People of Ojai, the Aboriginal Natives of the Hawaiian Islands, to her father, Emilio Luciano, and to her teachers, Emilie Conrad and Ray Castellino. In our hearts forever, May We Walk in Beauty.

More about Sarah...

After years of practicing as a Certified Natural Health Practitioner, teaching yoga, and studying to become a homeopath, Sarah shifted her focus to the Somatic Trauma Healing Field. In 2006, she completed her Registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Training with Cherionna Menzam-Sills PhD. In this training, she first witnessed the movement of Continuum through Cherionna’s body, and within a week, she moved to Los Angeles to meet and study alongside Emilie Conrad for the last 10 years of her life. While studying with Emilie as well as Susan Harper of Continuum Montage, Sarah went on to complete her Pre and Perinatal Attachment Training with Myrna Martin MN, RCC in 2009. In 2010 at the Hollywood birth center, she assisted a home birth midwife, while holding the Castellino pre and perinatal principles to support each newborn and family in receiving birth with secure early bonding and attachment. Alongside her immersion in the Pre and Perinatal Field, her commitment to Continuum grew evermore, and while in a dive with Emilie, she birthed the vision for Somatic Sanctuary on the famous blue carpet at the Continuum Studio in Santa Monica in 2010. In 2011, while together in the Sea of Galilee during an Israel Depths Retreat, Emilie felt Sarah was ready to “Enter the Sea” and authorized her to teach Continuum Movement – her life forever touched by the Grace and Medicine of her primary teacher. She founded Somatic Sanctuary in 2014, the same year of Emilie’s transition, and felt Her Ancestral Wings with her throughout this birth. For 7 years, Somatic Sanctuary was a home for Continuum Movement Classes, Somatic Experiencing, and Pre and Perinatal Womb Surrounds and Sessions.

From 2013 to 2020, Sarah worked closely with Pre and Perinatal Somatic Pioneer Dr Ray Castellino (1944-2020), assisting and hosting him in his Process Workshops, Womb Surrounds, and trainings. Through these years, she became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and from 2017 to 2018, Sarah completed the Body into Being training with John (1949-2019) and Anna Chitty BCST. Her commitment to trauma resolution and spirituality led her back to Israel a number of times to deepen her connection and training with Thomas Hübl PhD for his work in healing collective trauma.  In 2017, she completed the training for Holistic Pelvic Care with Tami Lynn Kent MSPT and assisted her in following trainings. Sarah’s passion for supporting birth along with her Biodynamic Cranial Holding Field and awareness of the Pre and Perinatal Principles have her hold deep and compassionate space for women for their whole journey from preconception to pelvic and womb integration after birth.

Sarah continues to support Tara Blasco PhD, by assisting the Beba Clinic in Ojai, while completing the Castellino Family Practitioner Training with her and Mary Jackson RN, LM, RCST.

Over 25 years, Sarah has had the Sacred Privilege of studying with many masters within the Somatic and Spiritual Fields. Sacred Honor

In honor of Sarah's late teachers to whom her primary training was gifted to her by, we honor Emilie Conrad D'aoud and Ray Castellino. Their work forever remains in her heart and she is honored to carry on their legacy.

Emilie Conrad D'aoud

June 14, 1924 - April 14, 2014

Emilie Conrad’s unrelenting quest for a life unfettered by cultural constraints led her to create Continuum Movement. As a dancer who had transformational movement experiences, Emilie looked to the biology of the body for guidance and found that all life was movement, the movement of fluids.

Emilie’s passion for discovery was central to her movement investigations. Recognizing life as ongoing movement, she embraced an inquiry method as the basis of Continuum Movement. Augmenting her movement explorations with breaths and sounds, Emilie forged a path for herself and others to a direct experience of human life as part of the planetary process of evolution.

Emilie Conrad taught hundreds of workshops worldwide as well as classes in the Santa Monica, CA, studio that continues to be the home base of Continuum. Throughout her life, Emilie created dance and dance theatre projects. She brought much of the scope of her work together in her autobiography, Life on Land: The Story of Continuum, published in 2007.

Known for her radical vision of human possibilities and her ground-breaking work with persons with spinal cord injuries, Conrad has been a leader in the field of somatic movement. Authorized Continuum Movement teachers now share this work around the world. Continuum is relevant to a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to, trauma, vision, neuroplasticity, bodywork and artistic expression.

Ray Castellino

July 11,1944 - December 13, 2020

Raymond Castellino, DC (retired), RPP, RPE, RCST®, draws on over 50 years of experience as a natural health care practitioner, consultant and teacher. He is a pioneer in the field of Pre and Perinatal therapy and of using energetic and somatic approaches to facilitate attachment and bonding. His current practice focuses on the resolution of prenatal, birth and other early trauma and stress and developing teachable methods of supporting families and small groups of adults.

Dr. Castellino developed the Womb Surround Process Workshop for small groups of adults. He had discovered and developed clinical approaches and skill sets that carry over to family work with children and are applied in both Womb Surrounds, BEBA Family Sessions and in About Connections. As such BEBA, About Connections, the Womb Surround Process Workshops, Professional Training. Body into Being and Community outreach seminars and workshops constitute wings of integrated pre and peri-natal delivery and educational system.

These innovations include the Castellino 8 guiding Principles for small groups and families. These principles are cornerstones for the emergence of safety in babies and children in the context of relationships in their families.

He has developed a teachable method for working with families and small groups of adults as an energetic relational field. This innovation is a major game changer for facilitating families and adults in a relational social nervous system field. His work emphasizes harmonic resonance and co-regulated states while supporting individuation and differentiation at the same time. His work is collaborative in nature. Some of his primary collaborators are Mary Jackson, homebirth midwife, Tara Blasco, co-director of BEBA, and Anna Chitty, director of the Colorado School of Energy Studies.

Dr. Castellino is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences including the Association for Pre- & Peri-natal Psychology and Health, the American Polarity Therapy Association, the Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America, and others. He was a founding board member of the Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children. He has been practicing and teaching in the healthcare field since 1970, and offering prenatal and birth therapy since 1993.
